In the Funkbase Room the atmosphere was high the lights low, a perfect recipe for success. One of the highlights was when one lad started to dance in a sequence of steps, the next minute whole room started to join in, with hundreds of people dancing in unison.
Stephanie from Burscough states, “The line-up is great and I love meeting up with people I have met at previous weekenders”. The Live acts included Jay Sean, Monique Bingham and The Blackbyrds who all had the crowd screaming for more. The Powerhouse had a mix of live vocals and house music working together to produce a fantastic show.
The beatbar was a surprise with all manner of weird and wonderful dance moves; I’ve never seen feet move so fast. The Southport weekender is one of the friendliest events I have ever been to; everyone was so relaxed and friendly even to first timers.
On a whole the Southport Weekender was a huge success, Sophie from London said, “I have been four times and I come back because the atmosphere is great the people are friendly and the music is excellent”. If people are looking forward to the next Southport Weekender in November they better book early as a lot of people were disappointed as tickets sold out months before the May event.
On another note since I was feeling ill on the Saturday morning I left early, so I would like to say a special thank you to everyone who was concerned for my wellbeing and has enquired after me to my boss from the Southport Reporter. I would especially like to thank the security man at the front desk that was lovely and couldn’t do enough to help. Thanks again.
